Battery Intelligence
A BMS for cells that carry loads as well as charge.
Sasung Power software measures cell-level impedance, strain proxy, and thermal signals. It controls charge distribution during mechanical loading beyond the design scope of conventional BMS firmware.
Core Modules
Three software layers, one coherent system.
The Sasung Power BMS stack divides telemetry collection, state estimation, and control actuation into discrete modules with defined interfaces. Each module can be updated independently.
Cell-Level Telemetry
Impedance spectroscopy at 10 ms resolution per cell. Voltage, temperature, and strain proxy signals sampled independently. No pack-level aggregation that masks precursor events.
State Estimation
State-of-charge and state-of-health models use structural cell degradation data. They correct OCV curve shifts under bending load, which standard Coulomb counting does not capture.
Predictive Fault Detection
The fault classifier separates capacity fade from mechanical-load sensor noise. False positive rate remains below 0.3% under field-representative combined load test protocols.
Telemetry
Cell-level detail changes what is visible.
Pack monitoring combines voltage and temperature across cell groups. This conceals the 3-8 mV impedance delta preceding a fault. When the pack alarm activates, degradation has already spread.
Sasung Power cell telemetry captures the precursor before propagation. Fault prediction arrives with a 2-5 cycle lead time, allowing charge-rate reduction or load redistribution before damage.
Impedance sample interval per cell, independent of pack topology
Impedance delta threshold for early fault precursor detection
Intervention lead time over pack-level fault monitoring
False positive rate during combined mechanical and electrochemical load testing
Optimization
Managing charge rate under structural loads.
Bending creates different electrochemical conditions on a structural cell's tensile and compressive faces. Applying one uniform charge rate ignores that asymmetry and accelerates tensile-face capacity fade.
The Sasung Power optimization layer uses real-time strain proxy signals from impedance measurements to adjust charge distribution. Rather than blanket derating, it redistributes charging according to geometry, preserving pack throughput while reducing degradation at stress concentrations.
The result is 12 to 15% longer cycle life under representative load profiles compared to conventional constant-current charge management applied to the same structural cell format.
Cycle life extension under representative combined load profiles vs. conventional charge management
Charge redistribution reflects tensile and compressive face asymmetry, not blanket derating
Impedance-derived strain proxy signals updated at each 10 ms sampling cycle
Integration
Fits into your existing hardware stack.
Sasung Power BMS software includes a C library with hardware abstraction layer and a Python telemetry API for desktop tools. No proprietary hardware lock-in.
Firmware Interface
The core BMS library supports ARM Cortex-M4 and RISC-V MCU families. Its HAL exposes ADC sampling, CAN bus output, and NVM write. Partners implement the HAL for their MCU; Sasung Power maintains the layers above it.
Supported communication protocols include:
CAN 2.0B CAN-FD SPI I2C UARTTelemetry API
The Python telemetry client connects over a CAN-USB bridge or direct UART. Cell-level voltage, impedance, temperature, and strain proxy channels are exposed as pandas DataFrames for Jupyter analysis and CI test pipelines.
Data export formats:
Parquet CSV JSON-L HDF5Dashboard
Browser-based, real-time pack visibility.
The Sasung Power web dashboard connects directly to the BMS telemetry stream. Cell voltage maps, fault logs, and charge optimization audit traces update in real time without external cloud dependency.
